Bearing in mind the climate goals, heating buildings with natural gas is not a good solution in the long run. What are the alternatives for heating with natural gas? In which locations could we use which alternative techniques? I carry out analyses that give answers to those questions. Different actors are interested in different questions. Municipalities want to make their heat supply system sustainable whereas gas companies and grid operators are more interested in the development of the heat supply system in the Netherlands in the long run. In these analyses I can use my knowledge acquired during my study Civil Engineering at the TU Delft.

Apart from the studies on sustainable heat systems in the urban environment, I have done many projects related to the circular economy and the environmental impact of product streams during the years I have been working for CE Delft and in my previous job at NIBE.

My areas of expertise are the following:

  • Energy supply for the urban environment
  • Heat demand and production
  • Renewable heat sources and natural gas
  • Life Cycle Assessments
  • Circular economy
