Activity Based Carboning (ABCO2)

Automatic calculation of CO2 emissions at consignment level

In a collaborative effort with the CAPE group, CE Delft has developed ABCO2: a tool for calculating the carbon emissions of logistics operations at the level of individual consignments. The tool can be used during order make-up to indicate the CO2 emissions of available alternatives. To this end the user defines a network, providing details on vehicle fleet, logistic characteristics and transhipment locations. By filling in order data over an extended period, the effect of opting for a different modality or bundling shipments can be quantified.

CE Delft helped develop the calculation methodology for the tool and provided the emission indices used in the model, in which relevant existing standards have also been incorporated.
