Electricity products for the consumer and small-business market

Composition and sourcing of Dutch suppliers’ electricity products, 2014 update

This study, carried out for the Dutch Consumer Association, reviews the nature, source composition and, where applicable, source of the Guarantees of Origin (GO) of a total of 59 electricity products from 32 suppliers. For each product the following issues were addressed:
  • What component energy sources are embodied in the product?
  • Does the green electricity come from domestic of foreign sources?
  • If biomass is used, what is its composition and where is it sourced?
The study covers a total of 41 ‘green’ and 18 ‘grey’ electricity products from suppliers active in the market for consumers and/or small businesses. A factsheet with the relevant information was prepared for each individual supplier.
