senior researcher/consultant

It motivates me enormously to be able to contribute to making the Netherlands more sustainable, by supporting our clients with clear recommendations grounded in solid scientific fact.

About Thijs

I’ve been with CE Delft since 2014, working on a variety of topics related to the energy supply and sustainability: electricity markets, energy infrastructure and production, heat supply and energy in the built environment. I have a lot of experience with quantitative analysis, model development, monitoring and policy advice to government. I use my know-how, and experience as a researcher, consultant and project leader.

The projects I work on are extremely varied and often multidisciplinary. It’s a given fact that our energy systems are becoming increasingly complex, and that demands an integrated, systems-level vision, which I use to develop realistic, concrete answers to the energy policy questions our clients come to us with. It motivates me enormously to be able to contribute to making the Netherlands more sustainable, by supporting our clients with clear recommendations grounded in solid scientific fact.

Before joining CE Delft I studied Applied Physics at the University of Twente, followed by the master’s variant of Science, Business and Policy at the University of Groningen. I rounded off my studies with research on flexible Power-to-Gas at DNV GL.
