Assessment of ‘smart and sustainable’. Dutch aviation action plan: 35% less CO2 in 2030

Teaming up with Dutch knowledge institutes, Dutch-based airline companies have set themselves the task of becoming the ‘smartest and most sustainable’ in the world, developing a plan for reducing aviation CO2 emissions to around the level of 2005 by the year 2030. At the request of these companies and institutes, CE Delft has reviewed the action plan. We conclude that it is ambitious compared with the climate plans of other airlines, airports and branch organizations. The objective is feasible but will require a substantial effort by all parties concerned. The contribution to be made by each is an issue that needs elaborating in greater depth.
