Natuur & Milieu (N&M) has developed a vision entitled Aviation of Tomorrow. This vision outlines what a sustainable future for Dutch aviation, aligned with the Paris Agreement, could look like in the year 2040. To assess the effects of this vision, N&M commissioned CE Delft to carry out an assessment.
In this assessment, we estimate the effects of the Aviation of Tomorrow vision on a selected set of indicators related to the climate, the economy and the environment. In addition, one of the aims of this study was to validate the underlying assumptions and to examine whether the vision for aviation is aligned with the Paris Agreement.
The effects were determined for the year 2040 and are compared with the current situation in 2025. The results of the study therefore do not constitute a comparison with a reference scenario for the world of 2040, but rather a comparison with the present-day situation in 2025.
