Electricity emission factors
January 2015
Passenger Transport
,
At the request of Milieu Centraal and the Stimular Foundation, CE Delft has calculated lifecycle electricity emission factors for the baseline year 2013. Besides power station emissions, lifecycle emissions also include those associated with fuel resource recovery and transport and grid losses. The two organisations requested separate factors for ‘grey’ and for ‘unspecified’ electricity (average Dutch mix, i.e. ‘green’ + ‘grey’).
With these factors, businesses and private citizens can determine the environmental impact of their power consumption, depending on whether they are ‘grey’ consumers or do not know what kind of power they use (occupying rented premises, for example, or when recharging vehicles en route).
