CE Delft has conducted this study for RAI Vereniging, the Motorcycle and Automobile Industry Association of the Netherlands. It provides insight into what the ambitions from the Paris climate agreement mean for the road transport sector in the Netherlands. The study shows what GHG reductions are needed in road traffic. Scenarios have been developed that are in line with 2 degrees of warming and also a scenario that is in line with 1.5 degrees of warming.
In this study, the method of calculating ‘carbon budgets’ has been applied. These indicate how much CO2 can be emitted from now until the end of the century to remain below 1.5 or 2 degrees of global warming.
