Industrial Raw Material use in the NZKG

The Noordzeekanaalgebied (NZKG) Programme Office is currently developing a raw materials strategy for the NZKG. To support this strategy, the Programme Office and the Province of North Holland have commissioned CE Delft to investigate the (raw) material flows of industrial companies in the area. This information can be used to identify where the greatest opportunities for circularity lie and which policy instruments can support the transition to a circular economy.

The aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of the (raw) material flows within the NZKG. It focuses on the following questions:

• Which (raw) materials are used by industry in the Noordzeekanaalgebied, both overall and by sector?
• Which sectors offer opportunities for greater circularity, and how are raw material and material flows expected to develop towards 2035?
• How can the opportunities for circularity be supported through policy as part of the raw materials strategy?
