The goal of the European Single-Use Plastics (SUP) Directive is to reduce the amount of disposable plastic in litter and the impact of disposable plastic on the environment. The Dutch ‘Regulation on Single-Use Plastic Products’ includes measures to reduce the use of disposable plastic cups and containers.
Rijkswaterstaat, commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, has requested CE Delft to analyse the extent to which the use of single-use plastic cups and containers has decreased since 2022. We compare this analysis with an earlier study by CE Delft from 2021 and with market data from the producers’ organisation Verpact.
