Private jets Hamburg Airport. Flight activity, destinations and climate impacts

This study examines private jet activity at Hamburg Airport between 2023 and 2025, focusing on the number of flights, their destinations, the estimated climate impact and periods of particularly high activity. The analysis is based on flight-level ADS-B data from PrivateJets Tracker.

Between 2023 and 2025, 20,949 private jet flights departed from or arrived at Hamburg Airport, equivalent to approximately 7,000 flights per year.

An average private jet flight has a climate impact equivalent to eight months of an average EU citizen’s greenhouse-gas footprint. To put the climate impact into perspective, the estimated CO2 emissions from private jet flights to and from Hamburg in 2025 were comparable to the annual greenhouse-gas footprint of around 4,500 average EU citizens. The climate impact of departing private jet flights in 2025 alone was equivalent to roughly 370,000 one-way car journeys between Hamburg and Berlin, based on an average passenger car.
