On 18 December, 2014, the Dutch Sustainable Biomass Commission (‘Corbey Commission’) published its ‘Vision of a sustainable bio-economy in 2030’, exploring potential routes towards such an economy via four scenarios varying in assumed level of globalisation and the respective roles of government and industry. Will society still be as energy-intensive? Will multinationals be at the forefront of developments? Will the EU be self-reliant? Or will major steps have been taken on the world stage? Use of biomass in 2030 depends on many factors. The present report is a visual ‘dashboard’ synopsis of the underlying roadmap developed by CE Delft outlining the differences between the four routes.
