Scoping the update of STREAM Freight Transport

Rijkswaterstaat has asked CE Delft to carry out a number of preparatory activities for updating STREAM Freight Transport.

Specifically, this concerns the following three tasks:

  1. Identify the energy carriers that need to be updated for STREAM Freight Transport, with a specific focus on energy carriers for freight transport that have not already been included in STREAM Passenger Transport.
  2. Investigate and describe the methodology for determining the emission factors for these energy carriers. An important point of attention is exploring opportunities to align with developments within the European CLEVER project. In CLEVER, a methodology is being developed for determining European CO₂ emission factors. We will describe the current state of play and the implications for the methodology in STREAM.
  3. Establish preliminary CO₂ emission factors for methanol, considering e-methanol, biomethanol, and fossil methanol.

This memo describes our findings on these three tasks
