The built environment encompasses everyone’s living space, making it one of the most challenging sectors to decarbonise. In my research at CE Delft, I focus on the sustainability of local energy systems, particularly heat and electricity.
In the Built Environment sector, I have been working on the heat transition since 2021. I conduct extensive research into the necessary actions for sustainability on the one hand, and the consequences of these actions for the Netherlands and Europe on the other. Much of my work involves generating insights and providing strategic advice to governments, energy companies, financial institutions, and NGOs. To this end, I closely follow developments in climate and energy policy, technology, and information systems. I hold a degree in Complex Systems Engineering and Management from TU Delft, with a focus on energy & industry, and have further training in computer science and electrical engineering.
My motivation for working at CE Delft is that I believe we can make the world more sustainable through systemic change. The climate crisis has created increasing instability in our world, with short- and long-term strategic interests often in conflict. This complexity demands effective and robust climate policy. At CE Delft, I can contribute to that climate policy by providing well-founded and independent advice, in an environment with motivated and skilled colleagues.
