With a view to cost-effective decarbonisation of the built environment, it has been announced under the European Green Deal that the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) might be extended to include the emissions of road transport and the buildings sector. In this exploratory analysis we investigate what the consequences would be for the built environment in the Netherlands.
