For the Goois Nature Reserve (GNR), we have mapped the annual value of the ecosystem services it provides. We estimate the total annual value of the Goois Nature Reserve to be between €13 million and €33.5 million.
These benefits accrue to both local residents and visitors, who benefit from the important services provided by the GNR. These include a source of clean drinking water, natural climate regulation through carbon sequestration in trees, a high level of biodiversity and suitable habitats for rare and distinctive species, health benefits derived from spending time in green spaces, opportunities for recreation in nature, and appreciation of the GNR’s distinctive landscape.
