The Vesta MAIS model calculates both the domestic and the end-user costs of natural gas-free heat technologies in the built environment in the Netherlands. This provides insight into the transition pathways for heat supply by 2050. Heat networks are an important heat technology in this transition. Vesta MAIS therefore provides models for different types of heat networks.
There is considerable public debate about the construction and costs of heat networks. New market insights require that functional modelling and key figures of heat networks are updated. This report presents the insights we have acquired from the most recent publications and studies on heat networks. Based on these insights, we make recommendations for adjustments to the Vesta MAIS model.
