The Dutch cabinet has decided on a national obligation (standardisation) for the application of a minimum share of recyclate and bio-based polymers in partial or finished products. The plastic standard will take effect in 2027 and will gradually become more stringent, aiming for the application of 25-30% recycled and bio-based polymers in partial or final products by 2030. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W) have asked CE Delft and TNO to estimate the average cost increase due to the standard, the economic effects in 2030, and its impact on the CO2 savings of the standard.
