The Smart Delta Resources (SDR) cooperation platform has prioritised the realisation of a substantial CO2 reduction in the industrial cluster of the Scheldt Delta region in its SDR Roadmap. It is doing so by focusing on a promising transition path for making hydrogen sustainable (green and blue hydrogen transition path). Buck Consultants International and CE Delft have carried out an exploratory study for SDR into the potential hub function of the North Sea Port for hydrogen carriers. This study elaborates whether, and in what form and to what extent, the Scheldt Delta region is suitable for large-scale CO2-free hydrogen import, export and transit and what the added value of these hydrogen hub functions is.
