Aviation has an impact on air quality and climate: the emission of particulates results from the use of fuels containing aromatics and sulphur. One way to reduce this impact is to use hydrotreated fuels. This report calculates the global costs and benefits of using hydrotreated fuels and finds that the higher cost of these fuels is likely to be offset by the reduced impact on climate and health.
