PBL, the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, is currently preparing the second phase of the Spatial Outlook. There are several modules in this second phase of the Spatial Outlook 2022. One of these modules focuses on the spatial effects of the transition to a circular economy. This report, which is intended as input for the Spatial Outlook 2022, illustrates the causes and effects of the transition to a circular economy in the spatial economy in the Netherlands on the basis of five cases: plastics industry, house building/utility construction, car sharing, land and water construction and local biomass cultivation.
