Local and provincial authorities view the combination of solar power and parking spaces (solar carports) as one way to contribute to their sustainability ambitions stemming from the national Climate Agreement. Despite the anticipated potential, however, there are as yet only a few examples in the Netherlands. The aim of this study is to inspire owners of parking spaces, project developers and local authorities with practical examples and spur them on to action and utilise the available solar potential. A second aim is to identify the opportunities and challenges in order to better understand how scaling can be achieved.
