This report is an update and extension of the report ‘Environmental information on textiles’ prepared for Milieu Centraal by CE Delft in 2015. Like the original report, this update provides a review of the environmental impact of various kinds of textiles, using environmental data from existing LCAs, the Ecoinvent database and other open sources. The environmental results were calculated using the climate impact and the ReCiPe 2016 method. Extra attention was also paid to the issue of water scarcity in connection with fibre-crop cultivation and textile production. Recycled fibres have a clear environmental edge over virgin fibres.
