Local Heat Initiatives in the municipality of Leiderdorp

The municipality of Leiderdorp aims to support local energy communities that focus on collective heating and cooling initiatives in addition to regional approaches such as Warmte Leidse Regio (WLS). CE Delft was asked to explore and research methods how Leiderdorp can succeed in this effort. The most important research questions were:

• What is the potential for using locally sourced heat and cold?
• At what point and where should local energy communities begin preferably?
• What ways are most effective for Leiderdorp to support local energy communities?
• What lessons can be learned from comparable initiatives and projects in other municipalities?
