Over the past six months, CE Delft conducted further research into the pros and cons of different heat solutions in the Wilhelminapark and surroundings and Oudwijk neighbourhoods as part of Utrecht’s Neighbourhood Approach to Natural Gas-Free (Buurtaanpak Aardgasvrij).
Utrecht municipality adjusted the objective of the study while it was being conducted. The temporary shift in focus in the Utrecht Neighbourhood Approach to Natural Gas-Free means no preferred heating solution will be determined for these two neighbourhoods for the time being. We therefore focused on comparing the pros and cons of three different heat solutions, without expressing a preference.
In summary, of the three techniques, a medium-temperature heat network (MT heat network) scores most positively. It is the cheapest option for residents. This includes the lowest investment for insulation and the lowest taxes and energy bills.
