CE Delft was commissioned by insurance company a.s.r.to calculate the difference in climate impact of replacement versus repair for three commonly occurring forms of damage to homes: water damage to a plank floor, burglary damage to a plastic window-frame and impact damage to a stone kitchen worktop. In all three cases repair was better than replacement. In the case of water damage to the plank floor, the climate impact of repair was found to be three times lower than that of replacement, while in the other two cases it was six times lower. The results are to be used in an a.s.r. campaign.
