My fascination with the interconnectedness of material flows and their impact on the environment and society motivates me to analyse these relations in detail, while maintaining a focus on the big picture.

About Jessica

I started working at CE Delft in March 2021. While the themes I work on vary, my main focus lies on projects related to water and food.

With regard to food, I particularly enjoy working on issues related to protein transition, such as how environmental impact pricing can contribute to making the food system more sustainable.  With regard to water, I work on projects about recovering the many resources that end up in wastewater, such as the important nutrient phosphorus. In my work, I often use the LCA method to calculate the environmental impact of products and services. I also do more general analyses, such as how to make the supply of food and consumer products in a city more sustainable.

In my previous position as a policy officer at Vitens, I gave advice on how the implementation of sustainability principles at drinking water production sites could look like. My work at Vitens included creating decision tools to determine which interventions make sense, such as to reduce production losses or improve the quality of residual products.

My fascination with the interconnectedness of material flows and their impact on the environment and society motivates me to analyse these relations in detail, while maintaining a focus on the big picture.
