Haarlemmermeer electricity infrastructure. Study of the bottlenecks and problem-solving approaches

Haarlemmermeer electricity infrastructure study
Like many municipalities, the municipality of Haarlemmermeer has major ambitions for housing construction, area development and energy transition. These developments lead to increased electricity demand, potentially resulting in power grid bottlenecks. The municipality wants to know what bottlenecks could potentially occur, what consequences these would have and what solutions are available. To provide insight into this, CE Delft has prepared and analysed energy scenarios for 2027, 2035 and 2050. These scenarios were prepared based on the combined insight of the municipality, the grid operator and CE Delft. For each sector, such as newly built housing or logistics, this insight was compared in detail with the scenarios of the grid operator. In consultation with the grid operators, CE Delft subsequently identified the bottlenecks that are likely to occur at the various levels of the electricity grid in the various scenarios and the potential solutions.
