Support to the EEA Biomass Assessment

The European Environment Agency (EEA) plans to prepare a biomass assessment report to showcase the role of biomass in the European Green Deal and the co-benefits and trade-offs in relation to sustainability and climate aspects of its production. To support this work, the EEA commissioned a consortium of CE Delft, Ramboll and Metabolic to provide a number of building blocks for the report.

CE Delft’s main role in this project was to assess the impact of EU policies on future biomass supply and demand in the EU. A total of 23 policy documents were assessed, including communications setting out the European Commission’s strategy for the future, existing legislation (directives and regulations) and recent legislative proposals by the Commission.

The EEA report has not yet been published.
