Used Cooking Oil (UCO) as biofuel feedstock in the EU

Demand for Used Cooking Oil (UCO) as a feedstock for biodiesel production in the EU is likely to increase significantly, especially in the light of the Renewable Energy Directive II. Besides offering a means to reduce road transport CO2 emissions, UCO is also often cited as a feedstock for renewable maritime shipping and aviation fuels.

This study, commissioned by Transport & Environment, provides an overview of:

• developments in EU demand for UCO
• current and potential future supply of UCO
• monitoring and verification issues in relation to potential fraud.
